These four toys were on every 90s wish list. Tamagotchi, Furby, Skip-It and Tech Deck fingerboards each had their moment as the thing everyone at school wanted. This One Gotta Go card asks which one you'd erase from your childhood for good.

Think about the toy you begged for, the one that got taken away in class, and the one that ended up in the back of the closet. Then make your pick and see what your friends remember from their own toy boxes.

Tamagotchi vs Furby vs Skip-It vs Tech Deck fingerboards

A. Tamagotchi

Tamagotchi was a digital pet on a keychain that you had to feed and clean up after, or it would leave you. Kids carried them everywhere. The case against it is the stress: it beeped at the worst times, and plenty of them got banned from classrooms.

Keep it if: You took your digital pet's care seriously and still remember the pride of keeping it alive.

B. Furby

Furby was the talking furry toy that seemed to learn English the more you played with it. It was a must-have gift. The case against it is that it could be a little creepy, especially when it started talking on its own at night.

Keep it if: You loved talking to your Furby and thought it was the smartest toy you ever owned.

C. Skip-It

Skip-It was a ring around your ankle with a ball on a cord that you swung and jumped over while it counted your skips. It was simple and kept you moving. The case against it is that it was mostly fun for a few minutes at a time.

Keep it if: You spent whole afternoons going for a new skip record on the driveway and loved having a toy that kept you moving.

D. Tech Deck fingerboards

Tech Deck fingerboards were tiny skateboards you rode with two fingers, doing tricks on desks and homemade ramps. They were huge at school. The case against them is that they were more fun for skaters, so non-skaters might cut them first.

Keep it if: You practiced finger flips on every desk and loved collecting the boards and their graphics.

Our take

We'd cut Skip-It. It was a blast, but it's the one on this card that people don't talk about bringing back, while Tamagotchi and Furby were cultural moments and Tech Deck still has a fan base. Expect the most fun debate between the Tamagotchi parents and the Furby fans. For a bonus round, ask everyone which toy they still have in a box somewhere at their parents' house, because someone always does.

90s Toys: quick answers

What were the most popular toys of the 90s?

Tamagotchi, Furby, Skip-It and Tech Deck fingerboards were all big 90s toys, along with others like Beanie Babies, Pogs, Tickle Me Elmo and Polly Pocket. Many of them were built around a craze, which is why they're so fun to remember with friends.

What was a Tamagotchi?

A Tamagotchi was a small egg-shaped digital pet on a keychain. You fed it, cleaned up after it and played with it using a few buttons, and if you ignored it for too long it could leave or pass away. It became a huge 90s craze, and many schools banned them from classrooms.
