Some places show up on every bucket list and every travel feed. This One Gotta Go card puts four popular destinations together: Paris, Bali, Iceland and Tulum. Each one offers a completely different kind of trip.
Three destinations stay on your list, and one is crossed off forever. Think about where you have been, where you dream of going and which place you suspect is more about the photos than the experience. Then make your pick and share the trip you would book tomorrow if money were no issue.
Paris vs Bali vs Iceland vs Tulum
A. Paris
Paris offers art, history, food and the Eiffel Tower, and it has been a dream city for generations. It is iconic. It is also crowded and expensive, and some travelers say it does not always match the movie version, which makes it a fair cut.
Keep it if: You dream of museums, cafes and walking along the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in view.
B. Bali
Bali offers beaches, rice terraces, temples and wellness retreats in Indonesia. It is beautiful. It has also become very crowded in popular areas, and the flight is long for many travelers, which makes it a candidate to cut.
Keep it if: You love tropical beauty, temples and a slow, peaceful pace far from home.
C. Iceland
Iceland offers waterfalls, glaciers, hot springs and the chance to see the northern lights. It is otherworldly. It is also expensive and cold, and the weather can change your plans fast, which makes it a possible cut.
Keep it if: You love dramatic nature and dream of soaking in a hot spring under the northern lights.
D. Tulum
Tulum, on Mexico's Caribbean coast, mixes beaches, ruins and trendy restaurants. It is stylish and relaxing. Some travelers feel it has become more about photos and nightlife than culture, which makes it the most common cut.
Keep it if: You love beach days, cenotes and ruins by the sea, with great food after sunset.
Our take
We would cut Tulum. It is beautiful, but the other three offer experiences you cannot find anywhere else, from Paris museums to Bali temples to Iceland's northern lights. The most fun debate usually comes down to Paris against Iceland, since it is a classic city against wild nature. Ask everyone which destination they would visit first and who they would bring along, and you might plan a group trip by accident. The answers show who is a planner and who just wants to show up.

Travel Destinations: quick answers
When is the best time to see the northern lights in Iceland?
The northern lights in Iceland are usually best seen from late September to early April, when nights are long and dark. Clear skies and low light pollution help, so many visitors book tours that drive away from cities. Sightings are never guaranteed. A rental car or guided tour helps you reach darker skies.
What are cenotes in Tulum?
Cenotes are natural sinkholes filled with fresh water, found across Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, including around Tulum. Many are open for swimming and snorkeling in clear, cool water. They were sacred to the ancient Maya and are popular with travelers today. Some cenotes charge a small entry fee and ask swimmers to skip sunscreen to protect the water.
